Beavertail cactus starting to bloom, rich and full with buds...this cactus, inedible because of its many tiny spines, survives well out here among all these herbivores (cottontails, jackrabbits, antelope ground squirrels, little gophers, little kangaroo rats, mice)...it is the first to bloom...sheer delight to the winter eyes...
