Desert to the East

Yesterday afternoon the desert was calling me, and I went to an area about an hour and a half east of Joshua Tree and walked around on the NE edge of Joshua Tree National Park.  It was a clear dry day with just a faint wind, about 80 degrees F in mid-afternoon...warm in the sun, cool in the shade...

the sand out here is much paler, less brown, than where I live

autumn bushes and a water shaped rock face...apparently this area was under an ocean back along the way...
