rain falling, lighted by the just risen sun
in the west, a rainbow...it turned into a full arc...I went outside to shoot it and was met by crackling air and lighting that remained long enough I could have had a photo if I had thought to lift my camera...that was not what I was thinking of as I retreated to safety inside the house...5 minutes later came more lightning, and thunder followed before I could start counting....VERY loud, ending with what sounded like a sharp explosion...and we had a few minutes of light rain, the first in 5 months....then the storm moved on and I was amazed not to have lost electric power...
a couple of hours later a dark opaque cloud had formed in the east, and the wind brought it over and we had a lovely hour of rain...and more thunder and lightning, and then the power did go out...just came on again at dusk...lights, fridge, toaster, camera battery charger, email, and blog...every time this happens I think about solar...and about Nikola Tesla, who supposedly invented a pole you could put outside your house to collect all the electricity you could possibly use...
